Cowboy Clinic10AM - 1:00PM EVERY TUESDAY

Cowboy Action Shooting is a fast growing sport that is fun for the entire family.

If you are interested in Cowboy Action Shooting we suggest that you do not purchase any equipment until you have had a chance to discuss your particular needs with a seasoned Cowboy Action Shooter. There is a wealth of institutional knowledge to guide you on your path. Cowboys are constantly upgrading their equipment and there are often estate sales that offer great savings as well. All cowboy guns need to be slicked-out to run as fast as we shoot them so even if you purchase new equipment you still may send it off to a competent Cowboy Gunsmith for action work. This work can often double the cost of your purchase and we can help guide you through the best vendors and suppliers. You are welcome to shoot our equipment to see what best suits you and the category of Cowboy Action Shooting that most interests you (there are many different categories to choose from and may require specific equipment based on the category). We only shoot Lead Bullets (No Full Metal Jacket Allowed) as we shoot steel targets at fairly close distances.

All categories require Period-Correct equipment:

  • Two Single Action Revolvers with a Holster Rig
  • Lever Action Rifle (Winchester '73, Winchester '66 etc.)
  • Winchester '97 Pump Shotgun or Double Barrel Coach Gun

Most Cowboys reload their own ammo but there are commercial sources for those just getting started.

Dress code for the Cowboy Clinic is fairly casual, work boots are suggested as the range is rugged and sandy. Shorts & T-Shirts are recommended during the summer months, no flip-flops (for your own safety). Eye protection is required at all times when at The Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club and hearing protection is required when the range is active. Cowboy Range Safety Officers will guide you through gun safety, loading & unloading procedures and (when you are ready) how to safely shoot a match.

Waivers are required for you and your family members visiting our range, children must be supervised at all times and require a special waiver. This is not a dog friendly sport as the gunfire is exceptionally loud (especially for dogs). If you have a service dog, we ask that you provide sufficient hearing protection to keep your animal safe and healthy.
